Waukee APEX Exploration of Health Sciences Instructor, Dr. Michael Lyons, is the first Iowan awarded the American Physiological Society’s Online Professional Development Fellowship for 2016. Not only was he acknowledged for his scientific and professional accomplishments, but also for his outstanding leadership and service to the society.
The fellowship is an 11-month commitment to develop curriculum and activities that align with the science standards outlined by the American Physiological Society (APS). This will help Dr. Lyons with curriculum development not only for his APEX classes, but the materials he generates will become part of the national repository the APS provides to teachers across the nation.
We are very proud of Dr. Lyons for being the first Iowan to receive this honorific award, and cannot wait to see what more he will accomplish.
More information about the APS Fellowship award can be found on the APS website http://www.the-aps.org/Default.aspx.
